The heavens praise your wonders, O Lord

The heavens praise your wonders, O Lord,
Your faithfulness, too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord . . .
O Lord God Almighty, who is like you?
You are mighty, O Lord, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

From Psalm 89

Our Father, here I am, at your disposal, your child

Our Father, here I am, at your disposal, your child,
to use me to continue your loving the world,
by giving Jesus to me and through me,
to each other and to the world.
Let us pray for each other that we allow Jesus to love in us
and through us with the love with which his Father loves us.

Come, though long expected Jesus

Come, thou long expected Jesus,
born to set thy people free;
from our fears and sins release us,
let us find our rest in thee.
Israel's strength and consolation,
hope of all the earth thou art;
dear desire of every nation,
joy of every longing heart.

Born thy people to deliver,
born a child and yet a King,
born to reign in us forever,
now thy gracious kingdom bring.
By thine own eternal spirit
rule in all our hearts alone;
by thine all sufficient merit,
raise us to thy glorious throne.

A Forward - Biblical Iraq!

I received this as an email forward but thought it interesting enough to include here on this blogsite. Let me know what you think:

This is freaky, interesting and scary all in one!

Read down to the very bottom, you don't want to miss this!

VERY INTERESTING -

1. The garden of Eden was in Iraq.

2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq , was the cradle of civilization!

3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.

4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq.

5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!

6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in Iraq!

7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.

8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - which is in Iraq.

9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel.

10. Amos cried out in Iraq!

11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.

12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq!

13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in the fiery furnace!)

14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in Iraq .

15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq .

16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq.

17. The wise men were from Iraq. (my note: from the East...not necessarily Iraq)

18. Peter preached in Iraq.

19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon, which was a city in Iraq!

And you have probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers . The name Iraq, means country with deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy associated it than Iraq.

And also... This is something to think about! Since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages...

The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible)

Koran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.

(Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?! God Bless you all Amen !

We thank thee, Lord God and Father, Creator of Heaven and Earth

We thank thee, Lord God and Father, Creator of heaven and earth, for all thy good gifts which we, O Father of lights, have received of thee, and receive daily of thy liberal hand through Jesus Christ, the dearly beloved Son, our Lord, thou who hast clothed our bodies with the needed covering and hast satisfied them with the natural bread . . . Be pleased to keep us in thy Word in fatherly fashion, in order that to the end of our days we may remain constant in thy Word and Gospel, revealed by thee to the plain and simple, and hidden to the wise ones of this world.

Before the winds that blow do cease

Before the winds that blow do cease,
Teach me to dwell within Thy calm:
Before the pain has passed in peace,
Give me, my God, to sing a psalm.
Let me not lose the chance to prove
The fulness of enabling love.
O Love of God, do this for me:
Maintain a constant victory.

Lord Jesus Christ, who prayed that all your children might be one in you

Lord Jesus Christ, who prayed that all your children might be one in you: we pray for the restoration of visible unity to your Church. Forgive the pride and lack of love which have driven us apart. Take away our narrow-mindedness, our bitterness, our prejudice. May we never consider as normal the disunity which is a scandal to the world and an offence to your love. Teach us to recognize the gifts of your grace in all those who call upon you through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Grant, O Lord, that we may live

Grant, O Lord, that we may live in thy fear, die in thy favor, rest in thy peace, rise in thy power, reign in thy glory.

O Jesus, Master Carpenter

O Jesus, Master Carpenter, who at the last through wood and nails purchased our whole redemption; wield well thy tools in this thy workshop, that we who come to thee rough-hewn may be fashioned to a nobler beauty by thy hand; for thy name's sake, O Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for our military 111505

Having had received this today in my email, I thought I would share this with you too!

Prayer request

According to the weather reports, it is my understanding that it is 122
degrees in Iraq right now - and the low will be 111! Our troops need our
prayers for strength, endurance and safety. If it be God's will, give these
men and women the strength they need to prevail.

I am sorry but I am not breaking this one.....Let us pray.

Prayer chain for our Military...please don't break it.

Please send this on after a short prayer. Pray for our soldiers...

Prayer

"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect
us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Amen."

Prayer Request: When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a
prayer for our troops around the world.

There is nothing attached....

Do not let it stop with you, please.... Of all the gifts you could give a
US Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine & others deployed in harm's way, Prayer
is the very best one.

I have now spent fifty-five years in resolving

I have now spent fifty-five years in resolving: having, from the earliest time almost that I can remember, been forming plans of a better life. I have done nothing. The need of doing, therefore, is pressing, since the time of doing is short. O God, grant me to resolve aright, and to keep my resolutions, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

REMEMBER! - Written by Father Denis Edward O'Brien, USMC

It was the Veteran, not the reporter,
who has given us the freedom of the press.

It was the Veteran, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It was the Veteran, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to fair trial.

It was the Veteran, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to demonstrate.

It is the Veteran, who salutes the flag,
who served under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protestor to burn the flag.

To REMEMBER is to HONOR!

Ah, Lord, I am overwhelmed by your love

Ah, Lord, I am overwhelmed by your love.
I am overcome by your presence by my side.
My soul has no love of itself,
But you alone can arouse love with it. . . .
Now that I have known your presence
All other pleasures are empty.
My only joy is to be with you.

Mechthild of Magdeburg (1210-1280)

O Christ, who laid aside your glory and lived as a man

O Christ, who laid aside your glory and lived as a man, that all men might see the light of God shining through a human life; help us to be more like you and to lay aside all that hides you from the peoples of other races-- our pride of race, of knowledge, of civilization; so that through our lives of prayer and communion and love, they may come to see you as you are, and hail you as their Lord.

Thou takest the pen -- and the lines dance

Thou takest the pen -- and the lines dance. Thou takest the flute -- and the notes shimmer. Thou takest the brush and the colors sing. So all things have meaning and beauty in that space beyond time where Thou art. How then can I hold back anything from Thee?

A BETTER RESURRECTION by: Christina Rossetti (1830-1894)

I have no wit, no words, no tears;
My heart within me like a stone
Is numb'd too much for hopes or fears;
Look right, look left, I dwell alone;
I lift mine eyes, but dimm'd with grief
No everlasting hills I see;
My life is in the falling leaf:
O Jesus, quicken me.
My life is like a faded leaf,
My harvest dwindled to a husk:
Truly my life is void and brief
And tedious in the barren dusk;
My life is like a frozen thing,
No bud nor greenness can I see:
Yet rise it shall--the sap of Spring;
O Jesus, rise in me.
My life is like a broken bowl,
A broken bowl that cannot hold
One drop of water for my soul
Or cordial in the searching cold;
Cast in the fire the perish'd thing;
Melt and remould it, till it be
A royal cup for Him, my King:
O Jesus, drink of me.

Open wide the window of our spirits, O Lord

Open wide the window of our spirits, O Lord, and fill us full of light; open wide the door of our hearts, that we may receive and entertain thee with all our powers of adoration and love. Amen.

Praise the Lord - Praise the name of the Lord

1 Praise the Lord.
Praise the name of the Lord;
praise him, you servants of the Lord,
2 you who minister in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be his own,
Israel to be his treasured possession.
5 I know that the Lord is great,
that our Lord is greater than all gods.
6 The Lord does whatever pleases him,
in the heavens and on the earth,
in the seas and all their depths.
7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth;
he sends lightning with the rain
and brings out the wind from his storehouses.
. . .
13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever,
your renown, O LORD, through all generations.
14 For the LORD will vindicate his people
and have compassion on his servants.
15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
made by the hands of men.
16 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but they cannot see;
17 they have ears, but cannot hear,
nor is there breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.
19 O house of Israel, praise the Lord;
O house of Aaron, praise the Lord;
20 O house of Levi, praise the Lord;
you who fear him, praise the Lord.
21 Praise be to the Lord from Zion,
to him who dwells in Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord.

From Psalm 135

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee

Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee.
Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from thee.
Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as thou shalt choose.
Take my will, and make it thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is thine own;
It shall be thy royal throne.
Take my love: my Lord, I pour
At thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be,
Ever, only, all for thee.

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the gentle moon and joyful stars

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the gentle moon and joyful stars, that watch over the darkest night. You are the source of all peace, reconciling the whole universe to the Father. You are the source of all rest, calming troubled hearts, and bringing sleep to weary bodies. You are the sweetness that fills our minds with quiet joy, and can turn the worst nightmares into dreams of heaven. May I dream of your sweetness, rest in your arms, be at one with your Father, and be comforted in the knowledge that you always watch over me.

You, O Lord, said, "Be clever as serpents and innocent as doves."

You, O Lord, said, "Be clever as serpents and innocent as doves." Let me retain innocence and simplicity in the midst of this complex world. . . Give me the strength to think clearly, speak freely, and act boldly in your service. Give me the courage to show the dove in a world so full of serpents.

Lord, how much juice you can squeeze from a single grape

Lord, how much juice you can squeeze from a single grape.
How much water you can draw from a single well.
How great a fire you can kindle from a tiny spark.
How great a tree you can grow from a tiny seed.
My soul is so dry that by itself it cannot pray,
Yet you can squeeze from it the juice of a thousand prayers.
My soul is so parched that by itself it cannot love;
Yet you can draw from it boundless love for you and for my neighbor.
My soul is so cold that by itself it has no joy,
Yet you can light the fire of heavenly joy within me.
My soul is so feeble that by itself it has no faith;
Yet by your power my faith grows to a great height.
Thank you for prayer, for love, for joy, for faith;
Let me always be prayerful, loving, joyful, faithful.
